Do you need a website, or is a Facebook page enough?

Many small businesses in Wales run on Facebook alone. Here is what a Facebook page does well, where it falls short, and when a website is worth having.

What a Facebook page does well

A Facebook page is free, quick to set up and a good place to share updates, photos and reviews with people who already follow you. For many local businesses it is where regulars find out what is new.

Where a Facebook page falls short

You do not own it, so the platform controls who sees your posts and how the page looks. It rarely shows up for the searches that bring in new customers, such as a service plus your town, and it cannot take bookings, sell products or present your prices as clearly as a purpose-built site.

A page can also look inconsistent to someone who has never heard of you, while a website lets you control the first impression.

When a website is worth having

A website is worth it when you want new customers to find you on Google, when you want to take bookings or orders online, or when you want to look established next to competitors. It works alongside Facebook and does not replace it: your page sends people to your site, and your site links to your page.

Our websites start at £199, and you see a free draft before you pay anything, so you can judge the difference for yourself.
